CVT slipping or torque converter issue?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone else may have had the sane issue.

I have a 2014 juke with an automatic cvt transmission. It's started to shudder badly from 1st and second gear.

Another symptom is a loud squel type sound if pulling off while on a hill or slight incline.

It doesn't sound like the drive belt but more under the car.

I've used a home error code reader but no codes logged.

Is this the start of the cvt going?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

almost too much wind noise to really hear anything. Didn't hear anything CVT related in the audio. if replacing the belt didn't fix your squeak then like you said it's either the compressor pulley, alternator pulley, or could be the idler pulley. Check your radiator fan and make sure it's not contacting the shroud. That could also be a source of squeaking or scraping.

Quick update, its much worse now. I managed to get it to make the noise in park also.

I lifted the bonnet and it's coming from the bell housing side of the engine bay. Seems to be worse when you take your foot of the accelerator or a slow speeds.

It's more of a grating sound now like something inside the cvt.

I'm convinced that its the cvt belt fraying or a baring being tossed around inside the cvt.

I'll post another video tomorrow where you can hear it clearly.

I've stopped driving it now because it feels to dangerous to continue driving.

The noise didn't sound good, but I only caught a short bit of it. I don't recognize that sound but it could be the belt.

I had a bearing noise on throttle lift off as well. When I rebuilt my CVT I found (1) sticking bearing pack that might have been the cause. This is very common when you get debri in the bearings. They hate metal debri contamination and it's not hard for them to get jammed up. Eventually they seize up and the CVT belt just snaps, this is common for the Jatco CVT transmission.

Sorry about the car but you made the right choice to stop driving it.

I've had it confirmed today from a nissan dealer. I've fell victim to the premature cvt failure.

I've been given a courtesy car 2019 juke. Oh boy it's nice to drive.

They are trying to either get part or full cost of the replacement from Nissan.

As luck would have it the previous owner purchased and had it serviced at the exact same dealer.

A 2019 Juke? I thought they stopped making them.

That sucks. But hopefully they can fix it and cover most of it.
