Dealer Buyback?

I got an odd email today from my Nissan dealer telling me they are interested in buying my car. What's the deal here, is Nissan doing some buyback incentive program, or are they just trying to get my personal information (The link requires you to enter it)? The price on Juke NISMO's has dropped a lot since I bought my car, so if I sold my car at bluebook value I'd be upside down on my loan by more than I'd like. See the email below.

My manager, blahblah, has emailed me about your vehicle.

He wants to buy your 2013 Nissan Juke to meet demand in our pre-owned department.

If you are interested in selling us your vehicle please reply to this email.

Or you may click on this link: WhatsMyTradeValue.com, to receive the value of your Nissan or call me at:blahblah. Regardless of what you want for your vehicle, please call us and give us an opportunity.

I look forward to your reply.

Oh yeah, I would never do that. I originally planned to pay off the car completely before even considering selling it. No way I'm going to take a loss just because it was offered.

I sadly happen to be cursed with wandering eyes . . . so if they did somehow made a magical offer that was greater than what I owe, I'm not sure what I would do.

Yeah, I replied to the email with a 'what are you talking about?,' and received:

Hello blahblah, depending on condition, miles and the package you could be looking at $14000-$17500. When could you bring the Juke in for an appraisal? blahblah Store Mgr.

No way I'm going to trade a Juke NISMO AWD w/nav at 8k miles that I bought 8 months ago for $27000 for that price.

I know it's just a standard marketing ploy, but I'll admit that's sorta what got me in the Juke in the first place.

I was driving a 5 year old/50k mile Subaru Baja that I'd bought new for ~$23k and got a notice from the Subaru dealer offering me $17k on trade.

I test drove and liked a new WRX Limited Wagon and decided to talk numbers, and that's when the BS started:

We didn't know it was a stick (lie)
It's gonna need tires (lie)

Well, they EVEN LIED ABOUT MSRP on the WRX (as if people don't check something that basic).

I told them to piss off and went to test drive the Juke on a whim.

Told the Nissan dealer thanks, but no thanks and then they started their game. "What's it gonna take? How about X for Juke and $9k trade? Ok, $12k, Ok $14k, Ok $17k?"

Suddenly they had my interest.

"Gimmie Juke keys again, I'm gonna go flog it and think about it".

In the end I was into a new Juke AWD SL (w/ Homelink, LED lighting, Spoiler, etc.) for < $10k and thought wtf.

Happiest whim purchase I ever made.

They've been sending me this stuff too, but the numbers just aren't there at all. Horrible in comparison to the Baja.

But doesn't matter, eldest daughter turns 16 this year and has eye on it anyway.

Looks like I'm getting an even worse "trade value" from her lol.

cool stuff. I had my eyes on another wrx wagon too. My 03 wrx finally ished the bed and I wanted another one. They were unwilling to deal so I got a juke. A week later, we traded our 12 dodge journey with 38k miles on a 14 rogue sl. Sweet ride. They came in low for trade but after going back and forth on price, they came in more than what we owe. They were eyeing the journey while we were buying the juke.

I'm sure they would have come down more on the Juke had they not over-valued the Scoobie a little, but that's all part of the game.

Gonna seriously look at the new WRX later this year or early next.

But if not for my daughter, I'd be in no rush to get out of the Juke.

Send an e-mail back saying: You can have my Juke, when you pry it from my cold dead hands.
