They can be rebuilt easily. I purchased the rebuild kit from Mambatech but a turbo shop can easily use yours though some may not as they can't guarantee the quality of the kit you supply, I'd call around first. All depends on whether the compressor and/or turbine contacted the housing in terms of reusability along with any foreign debri damage, that needs to be checked. I supplied brand new turbo components so didn't run into that issue. I can't remember the steps as it was simple but plenty of youtube videos show how it's done. The compressor nut tightening torque value is critical, this you want to confirm but again let a turbo shop worry about that. Very likely you have a cracked turbine housing at the wastegate orifice so I'd check that though it still might be usable. You can get a component balance or VSR balance but then they will disassemble it anyway to do that so no point in rebuilding it yourself. I paid $175 shipped with my supplied rebuilt kit which they accepted and sent it to Majestic TurboWaco (www.majesticturbo.com
) and generally was happy with their service. Typical rebuild costs are minimum $400 anywhere else not including additional needed components so that's a judgement call on whether it's worth it or not.
