Today the 2011 Juke threw the p1078 code. Car has 50,000kms on it, engine has 3,000.
Any tips as to what to look for? I cleared the code and the light stayed off and seems to run ok, but want to fx the problem if I can.
Thanks

Either engine oil sludge build-up inhibiting proper operation of exhaust VTC, worn/stretched timing chain, or faulty exhaust VTC solenoid. Rarely do the sensors themselves ever go bad.

amazing it was the sensor. replaced the rear cam sensor and all is good. The engine has 3000 kms on it, it was replaced under warranty due to rattle after 2 timing chains and tensioners. Could have been damaged during the several times the top end was apart at the dealer. For $100 part it was worth the gamble.

My shop manuals do not show a P0178 code.

so it was definitely the camshaft sensor because I have the P0178 DTC code (exhaust valve timing sensor)? Frustrated. According to Nissan, the Jukes have two sensors - in back and front? So how did you figure out that the exhaust valve timing sensor was actually the camshaft sensor? Guess work?
