hi guys,

new here too.
this is a very nice community you've established here.

i'm still blown away by the number of juke forums that
have sprouted up in the interwebs.
the amazing thing is 99% percent
of members don't have their actual unit yet.
i mean, if that's not a sign of a great product
then i don't know what is.:)

by the way, any of you guys chummy with the
execs at nissan's main office?

maybe you can play angel's advocate and persuade
them to bring this byootiful machine to philippine shores.

i'll give you a bag of balut if you're successful.;)

hehe, well i guess it was worth a try.

cheers to everyone!

welcome to the site. im actually from manila before and moved to canada. i dont think youll have a problem getting a juke there. i know a few people that went to the dealerships and told them to bring in nissan models that werent available in the philippines and the dealership brought it in. also theres a lot of people there that can bring in any car for you.

parang gusto ko na tuloy magmigrate sa canada.:)

i didn't know you could request "foreign" models
from the local dealerships here. any idea on the
added premium you pay for such a request?

i've actually emailed one of the main local distributors here
(Universal Motors Corp.). and all they said was they can neither
confirm nor deny any future Juke acquisitions... okkkkk....
didn't even try to give me other options other than -"let's wait and see..."

oh well... good vibes...

you should know by now you can get anything there for the right amount of money. nissan isnt supposed to get the 2009 r35 gtr but theres 4 of them in manila already. might be more havent kept track in a while. try contacting a few other dealerships and see what they say about getting you a juke.

haha! i like how diplomatically you stated that. :)
to be honest, i think it tastes great, but it really does look nasty.
i was kinda repulsed by it when i was a kid... but then college
came around... and we never had enough money to buy doritos to
go with our beer...and voila! cheap, tasty, and choc-ful-o-cholesterol!

Nope, its half-developed chicken or duck embryo. Balut (egg) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Its actually really tasty, but most Americans like me can't get their brain around it.
When I visited Manila, some years ago, I heard someone calling "Balut", Balut". It was a lady, with a basket covered with a cloth. Inside were large eggs.
I was told it was a duck egg, cooked. Did not realize it was an embryo??
Anyway, I sipped the juice, tasted like OXO cube, then ate the rest, delicious, man, delicious but then I´ve unknowingly eaten dog there, but genuinely thought it was lamb!! Although I think that has been outlawed now?

haha! yeah. i remember that episode! i still can't believe that they would put it in the
ranks of eating live insects and worms. oh well, i guess one man's poison is another
man's beerstick.

as for my juke "quest", so far no dice.
mostly just searched online for clues and found some local
importers that regularly bring in some stuff from europe and dubai.
no jukes on their list yet, but they did have some cubes.
as for importing it personally, i read that the local customs dept.
here in manila charge a 100% tax for brand new imported cars.
yeah, crazy huh? don't get me wrong, i fell in love with the car
but to get 1 for the price of 2?

anyway i'm gonna try to be patient and see what happens in the next couple
of months...

@car_crazy any other hints as to where to look or ask around?
tia!

sadly the tax is there. there is a loophole around it but thats only if youve owned the car for at least a year. they dont charge you tax as long its been in your name anywhere outside the philippines for at least a year. there are also other "ways" around it and most importers there can take care of that for you.

try looking up for local people selling cars like skyline, rx-7, evo, etc.... those same guys can probably import you a juke.
