Just to be absolutely clear and possibly save a lot of time and headache:
The D-mode button doesn't really do anything in the first place. Imagine that the ICon screen is essentially a left and a right side. When you do climate control stuff, it is in 'climate view' this is all the left side stuff. When looking at the drive modes or the setup or eco, etc. on the right side it's in 'D-mode' view. The climate button and D-mode button just flip you back and forth between 'left side view' and 'right side view'. It's essentially useless because if you push any of the climate buttons (including the temp knob) it goes into 'left side' or 'climate view'. If you push a drive mode (normal sport eco) then it goes into 'right side' or 'D-mode view'. Pressing any of the other right side buttons does it also.
Don't expect the D-mode button to actually turn anything on, or cycle through settings. It's just a 'view' button and if you are already in that 'view' then it will appear to do nothing. Kinda like on a windows computer with no programs open, looking at a blank desktop. If you hit the 'show desktop' button it appears to do nothing. But if you have your A/C program open, then the 'show desktop' button actually does something.
