CVT PUSHING THE MILEAGE

I spoke with 2 reputable Nissan Dealers in my area. One about 30 miles from my house. Said they never heard of filter replacement. But happy to watch a video of it on his email. The other I called today, she informed me the issues I had been experiencing in cold weather could be related to Oil level. All my drain and fills were less than 5 qts. each time. Then she said they do something different. Mind you this was a very reputable dealership. People from all around brought their car n trucks from this place. Because of the quality and attention to detail after the SALE. NOW his son runs the company and has several car companies under an Umbrella. This (Sierra)Nissan place is out a ways. The Service Manager informed me they don't do drain and fills. The Evacuating system they use takes like 6 quarts out and comes with New Transmission software. 'm confused because of the 2 methods. I don't want mess it up. The only problem I have had in the past {limp mode} in extremely hot weather and very slow warm up when the outside air dips below 40°F Outside. There is a Cottmans across the State offering repair or replace whichever is cheaper after inspection. But I still feel it's the way you drive and environmental conditions. I have had Good Luck with this Forum. And looking forward to continued Support. Thanks all.

All I told her that I did drain and fills n they were less than 5 qts. each time. Then she said they do something different. Mind you this was a very reputable dealership. People from all around brought their cars from this place because popularity in the 80's n 90's for domestic brands| GM. THE Son runs it now with several different groups under 1 Umbrella. The Nissan Dealership He{SEIRRA} owns is out in the Country. They Evac 6 qts. and put in fresh NS-2 n comes with Transmission Software. I really don't want to mess it up by a flush. What do you guys Think ? Thanks
There is a filter replacement. The suction filter for the oil pump and the external cartridge filter for the lube/cooling circuit inside the Beehive cooler. Both are readily available.
Can't recall now the total system capacity but it's more like 8-9 quarts total. The 5 quarts is what you can physically drain, the remaining is within the torque converter and must be repeatedly flushed to get it all out. CVT oil level is critical to avoid aeration in the sump pan/oil pump. Use only Nissan NS2 or AMSOIL and you will have zero issues.

Which software are you referring to? There is a clutch touch point relearn after any major CVT overhaul. Then there is a simple TCM reflash to the latest firmware which I'd recommend on a 2011 since the latest firmware has fixed a lot of driveability issues. Can't recall what version is available now but the Nissan tech page lists the versions/updates available.
It makes sense. Thanks pboglio for the quick response. The issues are that Transmission shops like the one I took it to, probably did the suction method too. Because Time is money. And they have to use that filler tube to replace the New NS-2 fluid. But if you know of any reputable shops in my area let me know. The Dealership in question, has a labor Rate of $140/hr. Now I am willing put the money into a decent product. I couldn't believe my eyes, Jukes are still hovering around $18K for older Jukes. haha. They will make a comeback in the States after the Recalls on Sentra n Rogues are settled, you bet ! Thanks again for the info. lost without you Man.
No problem. Don't know of too many shops but maybe try a Nissan dealership.
