Hello Everyone,

A times I'm hearing like a loud cracking or.. thumping noise when applying brakes. I feel it through the brake pedal as well. i don't know what it is. I was going down a hill in some icy roads. going very slowly and i hear a loud clunking for a few seconds. it sounded like something was breaking. nothing is dragging so I don't know what it could be. Any ideas?

The anti lock brake system makes a lot of noise when it is activated. If you are hearing it on slick or icy roads, the system is probably working correctly.

See but I've had this happen on regular hot days. Is it the same thing.

Not necessarily.. But sometimes in hitting the brakes kinda hardand going around 10 - 15mph. It makes a loud banging noise. It sounds as if something is braking.. Not all the time tho

Clanking like exhaust banging against something or harder ?

Id say harder.. But It sounds like it coming fron under the vehicle towards the front.. When it happens I feel it up to my brake pedal.

I still say lower engine/trans mount.

Could be a malfunctioning ABS unit too.
