Hi All,

I have a quick question about the alternator behavior of 2013 Nissan Juke.
I change my alternator by myself because my alternator pulley is destroyed.
First my battery is at 12.38V before I start the car.
Is it normal after I start the car the battery goes at 14.79V for 10 seconds and going down at battery level (12.38V) after that?
When I load the alternator with the defrost and all light on, the battery goes to 13.65V and sometime return at battery level.
Is it for fuel economy or I have alternator problem again?

Did you use an OEM alternator from Nissan? The voltage regulator is in the alternator and the Juke needs the one from Nissan.

I
I buy an AC Delco rebuild from Rockauto.
Everything is fine until the voltage variation, I have no battery light going on.
I just want to know if it’s normal behavior for a Nissan.

Thanks

the alternator on the Juke does not charge all the time. it is a "smart" alternator and will only charge when it detects the battery needs it. That being said, it is a special alternator and any that are rebuilt, off-brand or ones not from Nissan may not work properly.
