Hi all,

I posted a quick introduction a few days ago and have been driving my 2015 Juke for a week now, it’s a replacement for my ‘13 SL that was totaled in an accident.
While I don’t plan on doing any drastic upgrades or modifications I AM interested in hearing what modifications are recommended for simply extending the life of the vehicle. If there’s already a thread dedicated to mods of this sort, I apologize for not having found it.
I’ll probably replace the stock head unit with a CarPlay compatible unit eventually, the rental car I was driving while shopping for this car had that feature and I want it.
I found that I could be listening to Spotify on my phone with AirPods in, hop in the car and plug the phone in, and the music would seamlessly transfer to the car audio. I want that in my Juke!
For now I’ll settle for using a MagSafe vent mounted charger to charge the phone and use the iPhone lightning to headphone dongle to connect to car audio via aux, because connecting to Bluetooth always seems to be a hassle with the stock radio.

But the FIRST thing I’m doing is getting a proper key. I was given one aftermarket key fob with this car and it allows me to unlock and lock the vehicle with buttons, and I can start the car by pressing the fob against the push button start, but there’s no keyblade for emergency situations and it’s the only key.

I’m waiting for a call back from a local locksmith with good reviews to see how much it’ll cost for two fully functioning key fobs. I don’t care if they don’t say “NISSAN” on them, I just want full functionality and for the key icon on the dash to disappear.

Hi, so the key thing: there is a blade key in the fob. It slides out from the bottom if you release it with the latch on the back. It can be used to unlock the doors if need be. But you CANNOT just swap to a blade style ignition key. You need to change out a LOT of components to do that.

The V2 engine in your 2015 is pretty solid. The engine itself has little to no major reliability flaws. Aside from the EGR system. But. There is no upgrade or fix for that, it just is what it is. If you want to know the differences between your 2013 and your 2015 check out this page:

Honestly, just be diligent on the maintenance and upkeep. Change the CVT fluid (drain and fill procedure is well documented on the forum) every 30k-45k miles. You have a gen 2 engine/CVT so all the bad stories you hear about the gen 1 CVT don’t really apply to you, but you should still be diligent about it. Other than that, have fun and drive it.

I think maybe I didn’t explain myself well.
when I purchased this car it came with a cheap aftermarket fob that doesn’t feature a “traditional” key blade at all.
So I’m hoping I can get a locksmith to produce keys that include the functionality of the OEM fob (proximity sensor, push button entry and start) as well as the little slide-out blade for door entry should the batteries die.
The dealership tells me they can produce copies of the keyblade at a reasonable cost but the intelligent fobs are an exorbitant price.

As for the differences in the engine/transmission between 1st/2nd gen Jukes, I wasn’t aware that much had changed. My first gen never gave me any trouble, of course I kept up with full synthetic oil and only used premium fuel but it’s good to know the second gen is regarded as being even more reliable.

I’m right at the 35k mark now so I’ll look into that CVT fluid replacement.
Thanks folks!

It may also be worth adding in a cooler if you live in a hot climate with 100 degree plus summers. I believe the ones sold in area's outside the US did have them from the factory but the US model did not. This is something I did because I will keep this car till they plant me in the ground, same goes for my 03 Dakota for that matter but it is a different story.

As far as replacing the stock head unit... well you will lose a lot of functionality like the camera's and such. I know there was a post for the connect2 stuff that would maybe be able to keep it but honestly I haven't seen anything that truly keeps that yet. Outside of that I have the same 2015 NISMO AWD Juke and while always looking for something better there has not been any features I am willing to pick up and drop the camera's.

There is a sticky that shows what it takes to get the cameras working.

Awesome, didn't know that but I have a ton of crap going on right now and not enough time to look things up since it hasn't been a priority. I now stand corrected.
Thats one reason Forums are better than Facebook and other social media. Far more organized.

So for whatever reason my phone and car audio weren’t connecting at first, but now it’s all working as it should.

I picked up a magnetic car mount with 15 watts charging speed, made by Energizer. Kinda pricey at $50 from Autozone but coupled with a MagSafe phone case it works great, I just stick the phone on the charger and it’s within easy reach of the steering wheel.
Coming from the ‘13 Juke with no Bluetooth capability this is a big upgrade, I had to choose between charging or listening to music/navigation before and had to fuss with cables and Lightning adapters since Apple did away with the 1/8” headphone port.

Long story short, I’ve scrapped any thoughts of replacing the head unit as it would be an expensive venture for not much of a return.
