The headliner and carpeting are very cheap. NIssan had to save somewhere and its apparent where they saved money. The car still feels solid to me. I have the all weather mats so not to screw up that cheap carpeting. I put the premium fuel and my dash always reads 20.2 mpg. I think its off a little though. I had to have all the Juke problems fixed beginning with the paint problem on the front bumper repainted which Nissan reimbursed me to the 2 recalls fixed and adding insulation to the front dash and trunk to stop those annoying noises.

Three observations. My last vehicle was a mid-engined convertible on coilovers that when going over any asphalt that wasn't perfectly paved, shook more than a crackwhore holding a winning powerball ticket. The Juke feels like a Buick Lacrosse compared to that so no worries there. I own a 2012 and maybe they improved the materials a bit from the 2011 but mine has no plastic-squeaks to date. However, the interior of any $20,000 car is going to have plastic and well, plastic makes noise and when a squeak or two begins to arrive once the car is broken in, it will be difficult to hear it over Megadeth's "Tornado of Souls" anyway so I'm not concerned.

Final observation: I dig the looks of the FJ and always have but in this day and age with technology being what it is, I can't bring myself to purchase anything that gets 12-15 mpg on my budget. My Juke is on its third tank and I'm averaging 26.2 mpg city. Gotta like that with an easily reachable 220+ hp ride.

If the FJ works for you, that's all that matters. Have fun with it!

Plus, wow, I would sure not want an FJ with gas prices heading towards $5 per gallon!
    Yeah. 100% agreement here!

If i can achieve 17-18 in the FJ (which most people on the forums do) I can justify this purchase as a much more capable vehicle with a 2mpg loss (my experience). I know some are getting 25-28 mpg on the juke. and I wish i was one of them. but the fact of the matter is.. i wasn't no matter how hard I tried. So that along with the general build quality was my main concerns. The FJ interior is in fact plastic. But it is way more solid than the juke.. not a peep after driving on a gravel road for 6 miles.

I really think something was wrong with your Juke...

    ...anyway, enjoy the FJ.

just driving habits. People getting 27-28 in a Juke would most probably get around 17-18 in an FJ. Likewise those getting 18-19 in the Juke will probably get 13-14 in the FJ. My bet for the OP is option #2.

    Possible, but not necessarily.

I've spent entire tankfuls attempting to break the 25 mpg mark but I can't seem to do that for an entire tank yet, regardless of how conservative I drive.

Now I THINK that is more a fuel quality thing, because that's true with all of our vehicles when driven in this tri-state (PA, DE, MD) area (i.e. that we struggle to approach the higher end ratings).

But it sounds like the OP was FAR below what I get if I just thrash the Juke.

    I like the FJ.
If you offroad it's a good choice, if not there are better vehicles IMO.
And all investigations into the pedal issue were found to be user error (letting the floor mat bunch up on the pedal or hitting the gas instead of the brake), so that should not even be a concern.

I too have found the Juke to be a bit more of a compromise than I thought when I bought it, but overall I think it's a good car.

On a separate note, I took a 1200 mile road trip last weekend and got the same 25-27 mpg that I get when I drive around town (UT has large portions of freeway that are 80mph and most of the rest is 75mph), and the small tank size got really annoying.

this is why i didn't like the 1.6. It seemed to struggle to reach a cruising speed on the highway and stay revved pretty high. I got way better mileage in my Z because cruising at 65-75 was only revving to 2k
I really do miss the iPod integration on the juke. i haven't used a cd since I owned it.. now I'm back to burning Mp3 CDs...
and for the size the juke was pretty fun in the little bit of snow we got this year
