    CAI performance

I know that the CAI adds a good amount of HP and torque by itself. But has anyone qualitatively measured a difference in acceleration times?

Either the 0-60 or quarter mile?

    Very curious, Thanks.

The performance increase would be nice to hear, however, I'm also curious about any mileage increase.

Most folks here on the forum that installed this CAI reported seeing about a ~2mpg increase (mainly hwy miles)

I just installed one in my AWD. I will let you know how it affects the mileage. As far as HP/performace, I feel no difference in the seat of the pants. On paper, who knows.

I recommend allowing your ECU time (~50miles) to fully adjust to the change before assessing any improvements ...

Yeah I agree...12-15hp (w/ CAI) would still be somewhat hard to notice any hp gains by just a simple "butt dyno" test alone...you should have heard some folks here on the forum early on that sweared by just replacing the stock flat filter with a K&N flat filter they could feel a difference (1-2 hp at best!)...

In terms a 0-60 improvement adding 10-15 ponies might shave off 0.1~0.2sec which would still be difficult to quantify using this metric simply because its well within the range of measurement error....

And installing just a CAI while still having a "constipated" stock exhaust system with 1.75" to 2" narrow crush bend piping that restricts output power really doesn't allow for "optimal" performance benefits gained when installing a CAI or SRI...Now add a 2.5" catback with good mandel bends along with that CAI and then the difference should be noticeable (~ 25hp combined)...

I purchase the Stillen muffler, made a modification to the rear hanger so I could us it with a Curt receiver hitch. My driving fluctuates so I really can't confirm a mileage and/or power increase. I found the muffler a bit loud for my taste so I have put the stock on back on. Now I'm considering a CIA, maybe after I get the CAI I'll try the muffler again to see how the combo works.

Hope you realize that installing a CAI will not in any way change the exhaust sound or noise level of the Stillen Axleback you once had installed...Generally, if your looking for a quieter exhaust sound "and" at the same time to improve performance simply find a muffler (axleback) with a larger outter housing along with larger mandrel bend piping ....There are a few other mufflers available with larger housings such as Doug Thorley, Borla, and Magnaflow which will be much quieter.....Or you can always go to a muffler shop and have any performance muffler "custom" installed...

I suggest you might want to do a search here on the forum for threads on other exhausts as this topic has been discussed by many members with lots of useful info...

    Happy Modding!

Thanks for the info. Yes, I plan to research the topic long before I make any other mods. If anyone is interested, I may be looking to unload the Stillen muffler.

Yeah...I too had a Stillen Axleback installed on my Juke very early on but replaced it later with a larger 2.5" Magnaflow moreso for the performance goals I had in mind for my Juke...As far as sound it does seem that most folks that install the Stillen axleback on their AWD version have a greatest compliants about loudness due to the fact its paired with a very narrow stock Resonator muffler on the Juke...The FWD version has a very large stock resonator housing which I suspect reduces exhaust noise and drone far more effectively than the AWD simply due to the size differences between the two resonators...

But back to CAI's...you'll definetly notice the improvement a CAI or SRI provides moreso once you start to also free up your exhaust system as well...

    Curious,

Good information. Yeah, I thought the Stillen would sound better with a standard tranny, never gave a thought to the fact that the FWD Jukes had a larger resonator. I'm going to look around for a muffler with a little more interior workings. Right now I'm looking at the Magnaflow units.

    Again, thanks for the info.
