    Remote start?

Hey everyone. I am thinking about getting a basic remote starter installed. I don't mind carrying an extra fob and don't need security or anything. Just the basic. Can anyone recommend a brand or setup? And is it true that I need two types of bypass units installed? That is what 2 places told me and it seems kind of odd that I would need 2 bypass units..................Thanks!

You only need 1 bypass, Viper, Avital, Clifford, Python, Code Alarm, Omega Excalibur, Compustar are all solid choices, expect to pay about $300 including the bypass.

My installers are scared up here to do it because it is no in any books. Do you know the bypass for the viper/python. I have the SL so keyless. Thanks

The bypass that most DEI (Viper/Python/Clifford/Avital) dealers will most likely use is the "DB-ALL". (XpressKit.com - Interfacing the Past, Present and Future. for more info)
Very detailed wiring diagrams are available on the site

The other bypass companies are Fortin and ADS (ADS bypasses are branded as Idatalink, flashlogic, and Omegalink)

Any shop that carries bypasses from these 3 companies will have access to the info needed, but yeah they may be scared to do it still.

Another possibility is they don't want to waste time doing Nissan Push To Starts that take much longer than most new cars on the market these days.
For example, a Ford Focus or Fusion can be done easily in under an hour.

The Juke is the easiest of all the Nissan Push to Starts, and will probably take an installer a minimum of 3 hours to do, unless they have done a few of them already or are very familiar with Nissans PTS .

So, if I'm an installer getting paid per install I want nothing to do with any of the Nissans, and would probably claim "sorry no info" too......

So when will car manufacturers start adding Remote Start to their list of standard equipment like the Nav systems, Sub woofers, etc...???

Did you end up getting a remote starter installed? I had a Avital Avistar 4103 recently installed (basic functionality). During the past few weeks when it was cooler the heater worked great when auto started. Now with the warmer weather starting we find (when we left the AC engaged when stopped), the auto start engages the blower but the compressor does not kick in to pre-cool the cabin. Our installer said he researched the Nissan website (??) and found that remote starters do not work the AC units in Altima's or Jukes.
