For those of you Canadian AWD owners who have not been following the thread about the Americans being compensated for incorrect tank size, I will give you a quick update.
Nissan North America was offering AWD Juke buyers a cheque in the amount of $400 or the option to allow Nissan to buy back their Jukes in compensation for incorrectly stating the tank size as larger than it actually was. The FWD version has a larger tank size and Nissan was only advertising the one tank size for both the AWD and FWD versions.
I, as a Canadian AWD owner, decided to do some investigating on my own and called up my dealership who knew nothing about this. He contacted Nissan Canada who informed him that Nissan Canada was not going to offer any kind of compensation as Nissan North America did for the American buyers. I spoke to him directly and he confirmed this information.
As I have since learned that there are rumours of Nissan Canada now following their American counterparts in offering compensation, I decided to contact Mr. Nissan Canada once again. He immediately called me to say that yes, Nissan Canada is going to compensate Canadian buyers of the AWD version, but he could not give me specifics as he had to speak to his executives on Monday. He will be contacting me again when he finds out more details.
So Canadians can now let out a sigh of relief that we are not being overlooked yet again. Nissan Canada is finally coming through for us. We can soon go shopping with cheque in hand, or perhaps even look to buy new cars for those of you not happy with your Jukes.![]()
