i dont understand how people can say what everything is "rated" for because no one on here has blown up a tranny or a motor yet from to much power. when someone blows something then guessing numbers would be better. until that happens mod on everyone i would like to see what the motor can handle as well as the cvt. not guessed or assumed numbers but actual numbers.
-2011 Nissan Juke. Pearl white SV AWD, nav, spoiler, splash guards, carpet floor mats
-1986 Nissan 300zx na2t. Candy orange, holset hx35 turbo, 100shot of nitrous, tokico suspension, fmic, 3" turbo back exhaust, walbro fuel pump, hallman boost controller

+1...agreed..but that said..these numbers below are probably a "safe" range assumption for now...but your correct in stating nobody truly knows the CVT's maximum capabilities with the exception of the engineers at Nissan which I'm sure have taken the CVT to failure in order to establish safe operational limit specs and long term reliability...Lets just hope no one here finds out what the CVT's maximum failure point is either!

    Maxima V6 CVT spec...
    290 hp @ 6,400 rpm
    261 lb-ft of torque @ 4,400 rpm

    Altima V6 CVT spec...
    270 hp @ 6,000 rpm
    258 lb-ft @ 4,400 rpm

I don't own a juke but am very interested in seeing how the CVT responds to the increased HP/TQ levels you guys are throwing at it! I prefer to manually shift but the idea of being able to keep the engine at peak HP logically means it should be faster than the same car with a 'normal' transmission. You don't have to worry about your tq/hp curves near as much.

But the evo X is *technically* not an automatic in the conventional sense. It does not have a torque converter, it has dual clutches that are automatically actuated, same as the GTR. Yeah, for intensive puposes it is an automatic style but it does not rely upon fluid to transmit power as all conventional automatics do. It has a manual style clutch that disengages/engages. Porsche also does this with the PDK. I'd call them automatic manuals to be more precise but they definatley aren't CVTs.

I've got the wifey interested in these guys so now I just need to keep her pointed towards a juke and then start modding it behind her back :-)

It still automatically shifts for you, or you can shift with the flick of your wrist.... same like a slushbox.
Still uses servos and valves to change gears.

No using your feet and arm to facilitate the actual changing of gears

Good read, sounds like we have one of the best cvts out there and also tranny fuild has a big effect on performance. I think some of the big tranny experts like shep from shepracing could beef up the cvt to hold some big power.

Maybe you need to take some automotive courses with transmissions as your main focus of study in order to grasp that.

By the way.... I seem to recall that the Altima and Maxima have a CVT option with the 300hp/300tq V6. So to say that a CVT is a weak transmission is ignorant.
Hey bro, the EVO's tranny is a dct..or an automated manual (or semi-automatic transmission) built by Getrag. There is no torque converter in it or the GR6 which is designed and built by BorgWarner. Just thought you might want to "take some automotive courses with transmissions as your main focus of study".

Now, I don't know that this claim has any backbone to stand its own with, but my salesperson told me he thought the CVT used in the Juke was the same as the Altima/Maxima. Again, him being a salesperson I don't know how strong that claim is.

But what I do know is that if a company finds a way to swap the CVT on the AWD Jukes to manual, I will be camped outside their shop waiting to have mine installed.
Current Ride: 2012 Juke SL AWD in Metallic Bronze with the black and red leather seats.

I had heard this somewhere as well way back in 2010 before purchasing the juke. I never really considered whether or not it might be true because at the end of the day it is a CVT and even a chain based CVT is usually no match for an automatic, dct, or true manual tranny. Infinite gearing is awesome only if actually usable..with the proper programming though, there might be potential to manually change the shift points for better performance but I don't know if anyone is looking into this yet.

The X-trails have an AWD manual transmission on the QR25. The shp that destroked my QR is trying to get it into the B15 on a big bore stroked VQ turbo and are hoping for 600whp. With the Juke already having the rear stuff, which has been the hardest part for the B15 to go AWD, it would be possible (not cheap) to get a bellhousing to mount it onto the MR16 and have a AWD Manual and then you won't have to worry about what it can handle.

300whp is not that hard to acheive, but it will never be done with bolt ons.
