Oil Catch Can - Anyone install one?

I just got an oil catch can and was wondering if anyone has installed one so I can have a reference to see where the lines go.

Honestly I am too lazy to check which ones are the oil lines. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm going to give it a try tonight and see how things go and I'll post some pictures if I can get it done.

    Thanks!

The oil catch can goes between the valve cover breather tube and a return on the stock intake before the turbo. I doubt it's needed on a stock engine, I've only used one when I turbocharge a motor that didn't have one from factory. Good luck finding room to mount it under the hood.

Was too tired to look at all the tubing to figure out which one is which.

As for needing an oil catch can, I just want to install one since they are relatively cheap. $20 for peace of mind is worth it in my opinion. I agree that you do not need it for a stock turbo but I was planning to increase boost eventually. I think after seeing my friend's install it on their turbo cars and the oil that is left in the can after increasing boost, I prefer to be on the safe side.

I agree, mod over the stock design and it's a good idea. I have oil on the intake valves in my xB, but it went from natural aspiration to turbo, I still need a catch can for it.

When I had my stock 355i, it was building so much oil residue in the IC because the lack of a oil catch can. I wouldn't mind installing one on the Juke if I studied the lines a bit.

Also, make sure your catch can has some type of wire gauze inside the baffle. This helps trap in the oil.

read the last few pages of this thread to get some ideas on how to install a oil catch can. Oil Change

I have a filter on the breather hose that does a pretty good job of catching the oil. Just ordered an LFP air oil separator a few days ago and will be installing that here soon. I couldn't find a proper mounting solution for my Perrin occ that was installed previously.

    Saikou Michi Oil Catch Can

    Hey folks...

Just wanted to share with you guys some pics of the Saikou Michi Oil Catch Can I recently purchased and installed on my Juke...Although this is probably not necessary for the majority of folks here on the forum keeping their Juke's stock...It is however a good preventative measure for those of us who are significantly upping the Juke's hp's (I'm at ~250hp) as well as boost levels (currently @ 16psi) and will prevent oily sludge and blow-by gases from being recirculated back in though our intake systems...

After much research and many great writeups I read on other forum sites regarding OCC's I found that Saikou Michi consistently had the best reviews...Some noteworthy reasons why this OCC is one of the better catch cans (than even many more of expensive one's) out on the market is that you are able to customize it to any application needed...Also this catch can incorporates a wire mesh filtration system internally to trap vaporized gases from being recirculated back into the intake system....Many other Oil Catch Cans on the market either do not include any filtration what-so-ever (empty cans) or their filtration is far too dense a material and will end up clogging very quickly...Additionally the customizable nipple sizing ensures the least amount of restriction possible....

    Stage 1 Single OCC

Specifically for our Juke the input and output OCC ports need to be at least 5/8" dia to minimize any restriction or flow and the mounting bracket can be located where ever you desire to mount it...And the best part is that this is all "customizable" and only cost $75 (out the door) for a stage one OCC...and they had this completed in less than a week for me!

    here are some pics:

As for periodic draining of the can....I simply installed a wing nut at the top mount for easy removal and allows for me to open the bottom petcock and drain it....I will initially inspect after a few hundred miles to gauge how often this Can will need to be drained...this OCC is a nice size so I do not anticipate having to drain this that often... hopefully just at each oil change....

Curious, any long term reactions to the oil catch can? Would you have changed or tweaked anything from your order form? This is most likely next on my mod list.
