    Subwoofer under seat, again

The "first generation" posters on this forum talked a lot about upgrading the audio, but I never got the resolution whether any of the various active subwoofers (aka powered subs) would work under the front seat of the Juke. There are many, including Sound Ordnance, Pyle, Lanzar, Boss Bass. It seems to me they should fit but it's very difficult to be sure. Any experiences out there?
Alternatively, has anyone tried a Kicker 10CVT654 (6 1/2") subwoofer in the rear door? Thanks for any concrete info.

Do you have an AWD or FWD Juke and where are you located?
If you have FWD, this gives you a lot of options for the larger area by the spare for a decent size powered sub or custom box.
I read on the UK Juke sight about under seat active sub installs a couple of different times.
The thing is, that different countries have different products available and what they have in the UK might not be available in the US.
To me it seemed that there was a larger variety of active compact subs for sale in the UK.

I got my Juke cheaper than you got your Juke.
$1868.73* and drove it off of the showroom floor, they even had a cake for me!

    *$688.00 delivery + $1180.73 T.T.&L. = $1868.73

Thanks Nascarlance. Nah, I have an AWD so the spire tire is there so less room, though maybe something is possible. Yeah, there are underseat powered subs available in US. I've never heard one, though I may just have to take the risk.
Oh yeah, Roll Tide! They got number one!

You can often find used ones on Ebay. I know a lot of Subaru people dump theirs when they upgrade their sound system and it'll fit in the Juke.
I drive a little red frog.

Pioneer makes an 8" shallow mount that takes a sealed enclosure of only .15 cubic feet. With 5/8 MDF that's an enclosure of 12 x 12 x 3.5 inches. Does anyone see a reason why that won't work under the driver's seat. Amp under the passenger seat? Has anyone tried something like this? Do you think this would be better than the active subs or no? Thanks for all the advice.

OK. The final answer about custom box for an underseat subwoofer: It cannot be done. I spent a couple of hours at a good audio sound shop yesterday and here's the verdict: The most shallow speaker available -- the Pioneer TS-SW841D -- is 2.5" deep. BUT, you must have another half inch or more for the bottom vent or it will overheat. The literature doesn't tell you that, but the shop guys insisted on it. PLUS the mounting ring adds another half inch. Even if you use half-inch MDF, that adds up to at least 4", which leaves no room for the excursion. Final answer: the only underseat solution is a powered sub (aka active sub) like the Sound Ordnance B-8PT or Pyle PLBASS 8.

    Slightly off topic.

Nice to see a fellow Juke owner in MA. Which part of Boston are you from?

Ahh..Back Bay :-) Permit parking? I'm not that far from you then. I split between Back Bay and Chinatown. What color is yours?

Gun metallic. Yours? There's a dark blue one near us, too, an SV. That's the only other one I've seen in town.
Yeah, I have to park it on the street.
