Chrome silver with tint all around. I saw a dark blue one as well. A old dude was driving it. Same boat as you, permit parking in Boston sucks no matter where you are. Any mods on yours yet?

My experience with the powered subs has never been very positive, they can sound fairly good in single cab trucks, but most of them just don't move enough air to bass a vehicle the size of ours. If you are just looking for a little extra bass try upgrading your 6.5 door speakers to something like Kicker KS series or better and adding a 4 channel amp. This probably wont be as cheap as a powered sub but the sound quality overall will be better. Check around and read some reviews on different speaker brands. I used to sell both Polk DB and Kicker KS, the Polks were much brighter with good high range, the Kickers more well rounded with decent bass. Personally I don't think there is any substitute for a good amp and sub with a box built to spec. That said if you aren't looking to wake up your neighbors so to speak, then some decent door replacements with an amp will sound really nice and well rounded.
Thanks so much for this info Skeezor. I'm glad you steered me away from the powered subs. I will definitely look into upgrading the door speakers. I'm also thinking I can have a decent sub box made for the area beside the spare tire by using the foam spacer there as a template for the box. I have an AWD so there's very little space. But if I use two 8" Pioneer shallow mounts, the volume of my box would be much more than the minimum volume required for that speaker. I can't see a way to fit a 10" but 2 8" should fit.
What do you think of that idea?

That is a good idea, any subs that fit should sound ok, but remember smaller volume box you are gonna get less boom. Pick the speakers first, they will come with a suggested volume amount for the best sound. Make sure whoever builds your box knows how to do the math, I never built boxes cause I don't know how to count >.>. If you can swing it, ported boxes usually sound louder, and there is a material that you can stuff the box with that cheats the volume, I will look it up later and see what its called. Also a side note on picking door speakers, remember if you are hearing them off a wall display like Best Buy has, all speakers sound the best right at ear level. Since our speakers are at foot level, when u demo the speakers drop down a couple of feet and see how they sound. Some speakers like certain MTX have a wide sound field and will sound the same in front or 4ft to the side, others only sound good in your face.
I'm no expert, just a guy who sold speakers and and did a few installs, but I hope this info helps.

Polyfil, this will help your box think it has some more room.
